The real vacation is about to start

Quick drive today from Ft. Myers down to Miami. Because we arrived in a timely fashion, we opted to go visit Flamingo Gardens. Two responses to all the naysayers who are taking the time to point out that I don’t “vacation” well because I always want to be doing something. One, if I’m somewhere new, why shouldn’t we see what all is there? I may never be here again! Two, remember I did sit by the water last Thursday and watch birds.

Flamingo Gardens. It was fun. We’ve tried to impart to our kids that anywhere you go can be interesting and entertaining if you have the right attitude. Flamingo Gardens is a kind of zoo/ botanical gardens experience. There are enormous fig trees, lots of birds:  ducks, chickens, owls, ibis, flamingos (one would hope since the name), turtles, and more. We didn’t have a ton of time since we arrived in the afternoon, but we tried to give everything at least a glance.
