Sometimes you can go home

Exploring day! Greg and I were very curious as to how the area is recovering from Hurricane Ian. Ian made landfall on Sept. 28, 2022 directly into Ft. Myers. Short answer, there is a lot to still be done. There is quite a bit of construction still happening, tarps are still in evidence as new roofing is being completed, and there are obvious areas where things used to be but aren’t anymore. While the devastation can be understatedly termed heartbreaking, Floridians are resilient and resourceful. I’m confident they will continue to rebuild. The beaches remain beautiful!

Greg and I visited Sanibel Island. My family used to go there and collect shells back when we lived in Stuart, FL in 1974. I don’t remember being there, but I remember the little shells. Greg and I went to the Sea Shell Museum (recommend), crossed over to Captiva Island, and of course walked on the beach to look for our own shells. Well, ‘of course’ for me. Greg really doesn’t like sand. All in all a fun look at a childhood reference that I can now put a picture with.
