Just Another (long) Day in Paradise

Arrived in Rome at the Fiumicino Leonardo Da Vinci airport just before 5pm. The leaving and arriving at such similar times, but being 24 hours apart, has thrown off our sense of which day of the week it is. Add in Christmas (one of our most favorite times of year), and it will probably be mid January until I get back on track! The airport was very clean and easy to navigate. Because we have such a limited time to be in this beautiful country, and there is so much to see, we’ve opted to use a private travel service to maximize our time. Our driver in Rome is Alex. He was right on time and very informative. Traffic in Rome is… different? Challenging? Lanes seem to be more of a suggestion and there are scooters zipping in and out of everywhere. Glad that we aren’t in charge of our own driving for this trip. Got checked in to a lovely hotel right in the heart of Rome, had an early (for Italians) dinner and tucked into bed because we were all tuckered out.
